The process of making his album was introspective.
Since he made his debut as a member of BLACKPINKJennie’s career has only grown. In recent years the idol has made her acting debut and is currently planning her first solo album.
Jennie was recently featured in the January edition of billboard, where he discussed several topics, including his thoughts on working on his album.
Idol revealed some of the most difficult parts of the album’s production cycle, including the creation of a new “creative network” after only working with one producer.
I struggled a lot in the beginning. For a few months, I would say, it was just me throwing myself out there, walking into rooms full of new people. I just had to keep knocking on the door, like, “Is that everything?” “Is that all?” and then eventually we got to the point where I found a good group of people that I bonded with, both sonically and as friends.

Jennie also said that working on the album was a different process than working with BLACKPINK, where she learned to compromise with others. With her solo work, Jennie says the only person she has to compromise with is herself, which has made the experience more difficult and rewarding.
It’s a fight between me, myself and I: I’m not easy to convince. It’s not easy to work with me. […] I needed it. I wanted this. The more I know myself, the more I try to love myself. There was a time in my life when I didn’t do it: I had no idea how to do it. I didn’t know who I was. I didn’t know what I lived for. The moment I felt in the dark. I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve moved on from that phase and am so committed to myself.

This sort of introspection is evident on the album, according to Jennie, who stated that it was “what I have experienced, what I resonate with or what I want in my life.
