After extending their group activity contract with YG Entertainment late last year, BLACKPINK members are now pursuing individual projects through their own management companies. Jennie founded Odd Atelier, Lisa is running Loud, Jisoo launched Blisoo and Rosé joined The Black Label under the guidance of producer Teddy.
Rosé recently released the single “APT” featuring pop star Bruno Mars on October 18th. Inspired by the popular Korean game APT Game, the song features catchy lyrics and melody. This single quickly became a hit and steadily climbed the global charts.
“APT” will be included on Rosé’s upcoming debut solo album, out December 6th. The idol participated in writing lyrics for all 12 songs on this album. The success of the title track “APT” has increased expectations for the next album.
Jennie, who released the single “Mantra” on October 11, also made a strong impact. With a message that encourages listeners to shine in their own way, “Mantra” debuted at number five on Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs chart, setting a new personal record for Jennie. The song also topped the iTunes charts in 57 countries, including the United States, Brazil, Singapore and Mexico.
Lisa is also busy with solo projects, starting with the single “Rockstar” in June. This song peaked at number eight on Spotify’s global chart and number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lisa went on to release “New Woman” in August and most recently “Moonlit Floor” on October 4.
Jisoo is focusing more on her acting career. He is currently shooting the film “Omniscient Reader” and the drama “Newtopia” for Coupang Play.
Despite pursuing a solo career, BLACKPINK’s popularity remains unchanged. The group is preparing for a reunion in 2025 with a world tour currently planned.
