BlackPink Rosé opens up about writing a song after staying up all night reading hateful comments

On the November 29 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “The Seasons – Lee Young-ji’s Rainbow,” BLACKPINK Rosé shared various stories, including her experience working on her music.

On this day, Rosé passionately performed “APT”. with Lee Young-ji and explained why she appeared on this show. He said, “I thought Lee Young-ji would do well, and I was a fan.” He continued, “I was invited to BLACKPINK’s party and met her. When I said it was nice to meet her, I remember worrying that I might make her uncomfortable because I’m shyer than I expected.

Rosé then shared the story behind the creation of “APT.”. He said, “The apartment drinking game got a really positive reaction, so we thought it would be fun to make a song out of it. That was a year ago and I didn’t expect it to be so well received.

Regarding her collaboration with Bruno Mars, Rosé said: “I asked for three song suggestions, but people around me told me not to send “APT.”. I secretly included it and sent it, and he accepted it, saying it would be fun. I’m a perfectionist too, but Bruno Mars is even more so. He has such vision and I was in awe watching him. He’s actually a bit of a tsundere.”

Rosé revealed why she dreamed of becoming a singer, “It was after I became an intern.” He explained, “I started thinking of singing as my dream when I became a trainee. Before coming to Korea, I grew up in Australia and couldn’t say I wanted to be a singer, but after I became a trainee, I thought, “I have to do this no matter what.” My parents were the first to suggest the audition.”

Rosé’s upcoming first full album, “rosie,” will be released on December 6 and will consist of 12 tracks. Rosé participated in the writing and composition of all the songs, sharing her most honest and intimate stories. He expressed, “These aren’t necessarily good stories from my twenties, but they are the struggles I went through. I hope they offer comfort and empathy to people.”

Rosé explained the story behind “girl number one”, saying: “After BLACKPINK’s tour ended, I was at a point where I had to figure out what to do next. I felt rushed, and even though I was trying hard, I felt like I had become lazy. I started spending all night on the internet, falling into a negative space. I saw some hateful comments and, being human, I didn’t want to admit it. I made myself suffer.” He continued, “That’s when I wanted to write a brutally honest song, and that’s how ‘number one girl’ was born.”

He said, “After I wrote that song, I felt relieved. It was the first time I felt the release of everything I had held inside and became addicted to it. I spent the whole year in the studio.”
