“…same ideas, with different artists…”
BLACKPINK‘S Jenny recently faced accusations of plagiarism.
On January 24, Jennie released “Zen” ahead of her solo album, Ruby. The song’s visuals were a change from her previous single, “Mantra”, earning praise from many.
These images are what led to the plagiarism accusations XGis “Screaming”. Similar imagery and editing was highlighted in both videos, along with similar accessories.
However, netizens quickly discovered and pointed out that “Zen” and “Howling” were both directed by Choi Gi Seokwho shared credits for the songs on Instagram.
Even though Jennie’s plagiarism was debunked, many still had issues with the concepts being so similar. In particular, they criticized Choi Gi Seok for allegedly reusing concepts with too many similarities between different projects.
Ngl.. while watching zen I was constantly reminded of howling… and yes cho gi seok is awesome and all and maybe that’s his trademark but it’s always the same concept throughout and it’s a bit tiring ..either he needs to broaden his horizons or we need more creative directors! https://t.co/vTKeTta7vb

This has been my complaint with Cho Giseok for a while now 😵💫 he just rehashes the same ideas with different artists. Most of the time it doesn’t even look good and comes off as tacky/kitsch. Both aren’t bad, but obviously aren’t the intention. https://t.co/gGCawlmNAD

this is a sign that people should stop working with him because how come every single artist he works with gets accusations of plagiarism from other artists he worked for https://t.co/HITe4XueqL
