BIGBANG’s Seungri has made his return to Korea after being released from his Burning Sun prison sentence.

The idol was a key figure in the 2019 sex and entertainment scandal involving several high-profile celebrities and industry insiders at the Seungri-owned Burning Sun nightclub.

An alleged assault of a male clubgoer in Gangnam Nightclub in November 2018 by an employee led the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to launch an investigation, which quickly exposed the club’s alleged involvement in the prostitution, drug trafficking and police corruption.

Sports Kyunghyang reported that Seungri had been spotted in early January at restaurants and bars in Gangnam.

In the photos taken, Seungri was dressed in casual clothes, sporting a cap and hoodie. The idol is said to visit bars so often that he is seen twice a week, where he drinks quietly with his acquaintances before leaving.

Seungri was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal after announcing his retirement from the entertainment industry and was released in February 2024.

Since his release, the BIGBANG member has mostly been spotted overseas, including attending a party at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix with Taiwanese stars Bang Jo-myeong and Ga Jin-dong, whose activities were restricted due to of drug charges. The idol also frequented several clubs, according to sightings by citizens.
