April K-Drama Spotlight: Byeon Woo-seok Becomes Prince, Ahn Hyo-seop Becomes Farmer

The April K-drama program is attracting great attention with the return of popular stars such as Byeon Woo-seok, Ahn Hyo-seop and Woo Do-hwan. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without lead actresses like IU, Kim Go-eun, Park Bo-young, Shin Hye-sun, and Go Youn-jung. From royal heirs to mushroom farmers and even characters involved in crime, this month offers a wide variety of stories.

Bloodhounds 2 (April 3)

Cast: Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, Rain

After defeating a loan shark ring in the first season, Kim Gun Woo (Woo Do-hwan) returns to boxing with dreams of becoming a champion. This time he will face Baek Jung (Rain), a powerful and dangerous figure who runs an underground gambling ring centered around boxing. Baek Jung will stop at nothing to drag Gun Woo into his world. Left with no choice, Gun Woo and Woo Jin (Lee Sang-yi) decide to dismantle the illegal operation.

The fast-paced, hard-hitting action that defined the first season is expected to continue Hounds 2. In addition to the returning cast, Rain’s transformation into a villain adds another layer of intrigue.

Perfect Crown (April 10)

Set in a modern Korea where a constitutional monarchy still exists, Perfect crown follows Seong Hui Ju (IU), the heir to a powerful conglomerate. Despite his wealth, beauty and intelligence, he remains an ordinary person.

Although she has no interest in royal status, her position creates obstacles that lead her to a relationship with Prince Yian (Byeon Woo-seok). Although he holds royal status, he lacks everything else which creates a compelling contrast between the two.

In season three, Kim Yu Mi (Kim Go-eun) realized her dream of becoming a successful writer. However, his daily life has become repetitive and boring. Everything changes when his brain cells suddenly become active again as he falls in love with Shin Soon Rok (Kim Jae-won).

Absolute value of romance (April 17)

Promising plenty of laughs, the story follows Yeo Eui Ju (Kim Hyang-gi), a high school student by day and a Boys’ Love writer by night. Her stories are inspired by the wonderful teachers at her school.

His quiet school life is thrown into chaos when he unexpectedly meets these real-life teachers under embarrassing circumstances.

Cast: Koo Kyo-hwan, Go Youn-jung

The series follows Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo-hwan), an ambitious director who has yet to release a film despite being part of a famous creative team. As he struggles with his doubts, he meets producer Byeon Eun Ah (Go Youn-jung), known for her brutally honest critiques of scripts.

The story also explores other creatives dealing with failure and emotional turmoil, offering a deeper look at the film industry and the personal battles behind it.

Ahn Hyo-seop plays Matthew Lee, a meticulous young farmer who spends his days growing mushrooms. Although blunt in speech, he has a warm heart.

His routine changes when Dam Ye Jin (Chae Won-bin), a famous home shopping host, enters his life. Determined to renew a business deal for her mushrooms, she persistently pursues him despite repeated rejections. Their back-and-forth dynamic gradually blossoms into romance.

If Wishes Could Kill (April 24)

Cast: Jeon So-young, Kang Mina

Set at Seorin High School, the story revolves around a mysterious wish-granting app called Girigo. The students upload videos of their wishes, but soon discover the deadly consequences behind them, as a curse seems to bring tragedy to those who use it.

Filling yourself with love (April 25)

Cast: Shin Hye-sun, Gong Myung

This office romance follows Joo In Ah (Shin Hye-sun), a perfectionist audit team leader who never compromises on work. His career takes a turn when he meets No Ki Joon (Gong Myung).

Park Bo-young returns as Kim Hee Joo, an airport security officer whose life takes a dark turn after receiving gold bars linked to an illegal smuggling ring via her boyfriend, a pilot.

Haunted by gold, she becomes entangled in a dangerous web of greed, betrayal and crime. He soon finds himself at the center of a high-stakes chase involving detectives, loan sharks and criminal organizations.
