It finally happened: BTS is back. At a time that brought tears, screams and global trend hashtags, all seven members of the iconic K-Pop group gathered in public for the first time for years, only a week before their official return.
The meeting took place at the J-Hope solo concert in Seoul, part of the 2025 party, the annual celebration of BTS with fans. The army from all over the world had retained the breath for a complete group moment, and this week it delivered this, with a splash of magic, nostalgia and surprise shows.
J-Hope, who was discharged at the beginning of this year, promoted his new solo material with a series of live shows in Korea. The concert was far from ordinary. Fans identified Jin, RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook and, in particular – on the suga between the crowd, dance, shake and sing together. It was the first time that all seven members of the BTS were seen together in public since their military enlisters began in 2022.
The suga appearance was particularly emotional. Unlike the others, he was a public service worker due to a previous injury and has maintained a low profile during his duty. His return to the eyes of the public marks the final chapter of the group’s military break.
From uniform to microphones
Jin was the first to be discharged in December 2023, quickly followed by J-Hope. In the following months, V, RM, Jimin and Jungkook have completed their mandatory service, with Suga provided to officially conclude its functions Friday 20 June 2025. That date marks a historical moment: all BTS members will be officially made with military service.
Although the music of Hybe and Bighit has not confirmed any specific return plan, the presence of the group at Festa 2025 fueled the speculation on the fact that a group project or a world tour could be announced in the coming weeks. Until now, Jin and J-Hope are the only two confirmed to work on individual promotions.
But the moment when fans really amazed was when Jungkook and Jin joined J-Hope on stage for a surprise mini performance. The energy in the venue was electric while the three stars embraced and performed a short film of BTS classics and solo traces. The fans screamed, cried and sung in unison: a sound not listened to since BTS has made group activities paused in 2022.
The army reacts
Social media exploded with hashtags like #Btsisback, #SugareturnsAND #Ot7reunionWith fans who publish videos of members who interact from the stands and clips of surprise performance. Many have noticed that the unit among the members felt stronger than ever.
“I waited for three years for this moment. See again suga with the boys … I can’t stop crying,” wrote a fan on X (previously Twitter). Another added: “The fact that everyone showed up for the Hobi concert tells you everything you need to know about their brotherhood”.
In recent months, some online critics have doubted whether BTS would have returned as a complete group following individual disputes, including the debate on the Suga exemption from active military service. But if this week has shown something, it is that BTS remains a close-knit unit with stellar power without equal-and the army has the shoulders, it does not matter.
What’s the next?
While the official post-service return date is still in the compresses phase, Festa 2025 and this powerful meeting have clarified one thing: BTS is preparing for a new era. With their twelfth anniversary now behind them and almost complete military duties, the stage is ready for one of the most anticipated returns in the history of music.
Stay tuned. The kings of K-Pop are returning.
