In the transmission of 4 March of “Smoking Gun” of KBS2 (temporary title), the brutal “case of chain murder” was revealed that involves a woman who met her victim through an app of appointments. The guests of the show expressed disbelief and shock for the extreme brutality of the author. They were visibly disturbed by the terrible details of the case, unable to understand how someone could commit such a violent and gruesome act.
On May 31, 2014, a suspicious suitcase was reported on the side of a road in the industrial complex of Namong in Incheon. When the zipper was opened, a disfigured male bust was found inside. The body had been meticulously cut, apparently with a chainsaw, and was in a state of decay. The victim was identified as the 51-year-old Kim Hyun-San (pseudonym), who passed away five days before after leaving the house for a job interview.
Police investigations revealed that the last person Kim Hyun-Shang met was a 35-year-old woman named Park Hyun-Ah (pseudonym), whom she had met on an appointment app. The two had gone to a remote motel and the filming of the CCTV showed Park leaving the motel alone, without any sign of Kim Hyun -ong later. Park Hyun-Ah was the main suspicion and further investigations revealed that they used the victim’s credit card to buy expensive jewels, together with a chainsaw and a trolley. When it was arrested, the victim’s blood and the instruments used in crime were found in his car.
Ahn Hyun -mo was horrified, saying, “How could he commit such a brutal murder with a chainsaw when there was no apparent reason?” While the actress Lee Ji-Hye added, “If Park Hyun-Ah had not been quickly arrested, it is unimaginable what could have happened later.”
The episode also saw the former detective IM Sang-do of the incheon Namong police station, who supervised the investigations, and the psychiatrist Cha Seung-Min, who analyzed the psychological profile of the bizarre and grotesque murderer, Park Hyun-Ah.
