On November 29th, I LOVE IT revealed the contents of the email sent to New Jeans.
NewJeans sent a certified letter to the company on November 13 with eight requests, and the company took the best possible measures for each issue and responded via email within the expected deadline.
The company also asked to meet the members for a candid conversation and revealed that they would do their best to support the artists’ activities and help them grow as global artists.
ADOR CEO asks to meet NewJeans in person
Below are the agency’s responses to the eight requests made by NewJeans.
1. Regarding the request to take all necessary measures regarding HYBE’s decision to “throw away the new and start over”.
“ADOR drew the line at stating that the report was written by HYBE. After asking for an explanation, they responded: “We confirmed that HYBE is not saying it will abandon NewJeans and has not ‘decided’ or ‘ordered’ any action. They added that it would be difficult to conduct audits or take action against HYBE employees.
In terms of grouping LE SSERAFIM as ‘NEW-I-LE’, rather than being compared to the other two groups, he suggested that it would be better to position themselves with other girl groups (BLACKPINK, aespa, IVE) who have achieved millions of album sales ‘era.”
2. Regarding the claim that ADOR took no action and overlooked the issue of another label manager “ignoring” Hanni.
“ADOR clarified that this was done by an employee of another label and stressed that they will take the necessary measures without damaging the image of the artist. They further explained efforts to identify the circumstances why CCTV was not archived. The CCTV employee checked the footage and explained that they found nothing unusual except them saying hello to each other, so that was the only footage on file. They also requested an in-person meeting with the manager (BELIFT LAB) but were denied.”
3. Regarding the request that ADOR is asked to intervene regarding the inappropriate statement made by a HYBE PR employee.
“We express sincere regret for the concern the artist must have felt and have immediately raised an objection to HYBE and called for measures to prevent a recurrence. HYBE also excluded the PR member in question from the PR group. We also received legal advice as to whether the member was subject to disciplinary action, but were told that he was not.”
4. Regarding the claim that videos and photos of NewJeans from when they were interns were released without permission and not deleted.
“We are not the source from which they were published or distributed, so we cannot directly delete them. ADOR has also requested that media outlets stop posting and is actively working to identify the source of how the videos were leaked.”
5. Regarding the request to resolve the damage caused by HYBE’s “push”.
“We have explained and confirmed with HYBE that ‘album push’ did not occur.”
6. Regarding the dispute with director Shin Woo Seok and the issue of existing works disappearing due to this issue.
“ADOR said they only requested the deletion of the ‘ETA Director’s Cut,’ but the director deleted the videos we didn’t request. ADOR has also taken the necessary measures to prevent the violation of rights.”
7. Regarding the request to take all measures to preserve the color of NewJeans and guarantee the activities of NewJeans.
“Although ADOR announced that they were preparing for a nationwide fan meeting, full-album release and a world tour next year, the artists continue to refuse the discussion. Furthermore, we tried to confirm the claim that BELIFT LAB’s plan was copied, but Min Hee Jin did not present any evidence. BELIFT LAB has stated that they have already answered enough through interviews, so it is difficult to confirm this.
8. Regarding the request to reinstate Min Hee Jin.
“Retaining a specific person as CEO is a matter of judgment by the ADOR board of directors. In terms of production, we will do our best to respect the artists’ requests so that Min Hee Jin can take care of the production.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans held an emergency press conference on November 28 and announced that it would leave ADOR and terminate its exclusivity contracts as the required matters had not been met.
