On November 20, ADOR stated: “We would like to share our position on Director Min Hee-jin’s resignation. We deeply regret Min Hee-jin’s unilateral decision to resign. ADOR will do everything we can to support NewJeans in achieving greater growth and success.”
Earlier on the same day, Min Hee-jin announced her resignation as internal director and declared the termination of her shareholder agreement with HYBE. It also revealed its intention to hold HYBE legally liable for breaches of the shareholders’ agreement.
Min Hee-jin joined HYBE as Chief Brand Officer (CBO) in 2019. She became CEO of ADOR in 2021, launching NewJeans Group in 2022 and achieving significant success.
Tensions between Min Hee-jin and HYBE escalated in April this year when HYBE unexpectedly conducted an audit of ADOR, suspecting that Min Hee-jin and her associates were plotting to take over the company.
In August, Min Hee-jin was fired from her position as CEO of ADOR. HYBE offered her the role of in-house director, but she declined, citing harmful clauses in the contract.
Meanwhile, on November 13, all five members of NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein) had sent a letter to ADOR, declaring their intention to terminate their exclusive contracts if the serious violations were not resolved within 14 days.
