ADOR “NewJeans’ appearance on the ‘News Show’ was not discussed”

On December 24, ADOR told TV Report: “The decision to have the artists appear on “Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show” was made independently without consulting the company. We were not aware of this appearance in advance.”

That day, at the end of CBS’s “Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show”, Kim Hyun-jung teased the Christmas special episode, mentioning that members of NewJeans would appear on the program.

However, instead of referring to them by the group’s name, Kim Hyun-jung used their real names, drawing attention to the ongoing developments surrounding the group.

NewJeans announced the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR on November 28th. At the time, members said: “HYBE and ADOR are to blame, so there is no reason for us to file a lawsuit or pay fines.” In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit in the Seoul Central District Court seeking to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract.

Since leaving ADOR, NewJeans have continued their independent activities, avoiding the use of their group name and instead using their real names. They recently opened a new communication channel under the name “jeanzforfree” and attracted attention for a photo shoot in Vogue directed by former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. The photos released prominently featured their real names rather than the group’s name.

On December 18, ADOR expressed concern about these independent activities, stating: “We hope that the members of NewJeans will continue to interact with fans through their official channels as before. Activities conducted through separate accounts can lead to legal issues, and we have communicated our concerns to the artists and their legal representatives.”
