On September 2, Shin Woo-seok, the director of NewJeans’ hit music videos, stated“It seems that policies have changed with the new management of ADOR.”
Following ADOR’s request, all NewJeans music videos and related content that his company, Dolphiners Films (tentative translation), has worked on and uploaded, as well as future uploads, can no longer be made public.
He emphasized that Dolphiners Films and Ban Hee-soo’s YouTube channels were primarily operated to archive their portfolios and that no profits were generated from the content. The videos were created with the intent of producing quality work for fans and the company did not benefit financially from them. However, due to ADOR’s new demands, all videos must be deleted and collaboration with ADOR is no longer possible.
On the other hand, the YouTube channel “Ban Hee-soo” is part of the NewJeans theory, simulating the perspective of the sixth friend holding the camera in the group’s “Ditto” music video. The Ban Heesoo channel frequently uploads NewJeans videos and has attracted 652,000 subscribers.
Shin also expressed regret, saying: “There were projects we promised to work on with NewJeans in the future, but we are unable to make them happen. I feel sorry for the staff who have worked tirelessly for months and, most importantly, for the fans who have been eagerly waiting.”
According to another SNS update from Shin, various NewJeans videos, including Apple’s “ETA Directors’ Cut” and “iPhone 14 Pro Global Commercial,” among others, which were supposed to be released on Dolphiners Films and Ban Hee-soo’s YouTube channels, will therefore not be released.
NewJeans fans have since expressed their disappointment at the news.
On the other hand, ADOR had previously removed CEO Min Hee-jin from her position on August 27 and appointed Kim Joo-young as the new CEO. Although ADOR announced that Min would continue to manage NewJeans’ production duties and remain as an internal director, Min Hee-jin disputed this, stating that she was unilaterally fired and that the content of the contract offered to her to continue her production duties was unfair.
Additionally, new CEO Ju Young Kim expressed his intention to review allegations of workplace harassment and sexual harassment within ADOR, which Min Hee-jin was accused of covering up, with the aim of uncovering the truth behind these claims.
