ADOR Files Injunction to Ban NewJeans from Signing Independent Advertising Contracts ‘No Individual Deals Allowed’

On January 13, ADOR revealed that it had recently filed an “Injunction to Retain Management Rights and Ban Advertising Contracts” against members of NewJeans in the Seoul Central District Court.

The injunction seeks to ensure that ADOR maintains its position as a management agency under its exclusive contract with NewJeans until the first instance ruling on the “Confirmation of Validity of Exclusive Contract” case filed on December 3, 2024 in the same court . The measure aims to prevent NewJeans members from engaging in independent contracts or advertising activities without ADOR’s approval or consent.

ADOR explained: “The members of NewJeans, who unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusivity contract, attempted to independently contact advertisers and sign contracts. This decision was made to avoid confusion and harm to third parties, such as advertisers.”

They continued: “This injunction reflects ADOR’s intent to continue working with NewJeans. The ruling also finds that, even if a final ruling confirmed the validity of the exclusivity contract years later, it may be impossible to restore the situation to its original state by then..”

ADOR underlined: “Consistent with our position that our exclusive contract with NewJeans remains valid, we have consistently provided all personnel and resources necessary to support NewJeans’ entertainment activities and intend to continue to do so.“They added:”ADOR has received proposals for various projects, including advertising and events, and internally we have already finalized activity plans for this year, such as the release of a full album and fan meetings. We have expressed our desire to engage in in-depth communication with NewJeans members regarding these plans.”
