The parliamentary commission accepted a petition on the matter.
On November 22, the National Assembly announced that a petition had been submitted calling on the Environment and Labor Committee to review the perjury charges against I LOVE IT CEO Kim Joo Young was sent to the commission as a reference document.
The petition, filed on November 12, accused Kim Joo Young of perjury during her testimony before the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee on October 15, when she made statements regarding NewJeans Hanniincident of harassment in the workplace. The petitioner urged the National Assembly to take action against Kim based on the National Assembly Testimony and Evidence Law.
The perjury charge involved the infamous HYBE Weekly Music Industry Report, which created quite a controversy after being made public a few weeks ago. The petitioner claimed that Kim Joo Young was a CHRO (chief human resources officer) of HYBE at the time the report was circulated among the company’s C-level executives. Despite this, he did not mention it during his testimony in which he said he works to prevent human rights violations and uphold a respectful code of behavior. The petitioner argued that this contradiction constituted perjury.
