Actress Ryu Hyoyoungthe ex’s twin sister TARE member Ryu Hwayoungspoke about his sister’s past involvement in the group. The group faced a terrible bullying scandal when they were accused of bullying Hwayoung. This changed years later when the public changed its position, once again believing that Hwayoung had shirked her duties and framed the girls.
Hwayoung had already spoken out about the issue again after its former CEO, Kim Kwang Soorevisited the issue in a recent interview. She claimed she had indeed been bullied, although she didn’t entirely absolve herself of blame. Hyoyoung’s November 11, 2024 post stated that although she regretted her actions, she did so out of love for her sister. Back then, it was alleged that Hyoyoung had sent threatening messages to younger T-ARA members on Hwayoung’s behalf.

HI. This is actress Ryu Hyoyoung. First of all, I’m very sorry to have worried so many people. I’m posting this to tell you about the text messaging issue I’ve been involved in, in the controversy over my younger sister’s bullying.
We were about 20 years old then. We left our hometown alone for Seoul. We thought there were no adults around us we could rely on and that we could only count on each other as sisters. In that situation, I heard shocking things from my sister. She claimed to have been marginalized by T-ARA members and told me that “things were difficult” and that “she missed me.” I had tried to stop them from bullying my sister, resulting in my messages.
I think sending the messages was pretty silly and immature of me, and I still regret it to this day. I apologized to Areum for the messages I sent her earlier, but I’m still sorry.
But at 20 there was nothing I could do. I was afraid that if I left things as they were, my sister would make an extreme choice. It was the best I could do to protect my precious family member, as a young and insufficient person. I think everyone will know this too.
