It’s MUCH less than I expected.

A source of pride for many idol fans, and for the idols themselves, is their involvement in the music they release. Many groups’ songs are usually written by an outside person and given to them to perform, but this isn’t always the case, especially for more established idols.

It is usually assumed that with a larger share in the production of the song, the idols will be paid for their share, resulting in a larger profit from the song. However, it seems that this does not always appear to be the case.

During an episode of TWICE JeongyeonThe YouTube program of, the idol interviewed Stray childrenHim.

While talking about music, Jeongyeon asks the male idol which of his songs makes him the most money, and he replies, “Slump.”

“Slump” was released in 2020 and was used as the ending theme for the anime Tower of God. It was also used for the different language versions of the anime.

As a result, Han, who co-wrote the song with Bang Chan, earned a good share of royalties from the song’s widespread use. After jokingly asking how much she earned, Jeongyeon talks about her songwriting credits, stating that she received less than expected.

He said that at certain times of the year he received only ₩60 KRW (about $0.05 USD) in royalty payments.

It’s probably a lot less than many K-Pop fans would expect!
