ADOR has issued its official position regarding NewJeans seeking temporary band names.

In a statement obtained by OSENthe label stated its view on NewJeans’ latest move, in which the members (Minji, Danielle, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein) announced a contest for fans to make temporary group name suggestions on their account Instagram.

In November 2024, the quintet announced that they had terminated their contracts with ADOR in a press conference. However, amid protests from fans, the company still insists that members’ contracts remain valid.

One of ADOR’s legal actions was filing an injunction against NewJeans to prevent members from signing independent advertising contracts.

Due to NewJeans’ latest pitch to fans, ADOR deemed the group’s move to seek a new name a “serious violation.”

“It is unfortunate that members are attempting to engage in entertainment activities independently,” ADOR said.

“One approach involved holding a competition to identify new band names before receiving a legal judgment, which could be considered a serious breach of contract.”

Previously, NewJeans members uploaded a joint statement through their legal representative at Sejong Law Firm. In the statement, the “How Sweet” singers said they have “no plans to return to HYBE and ADOR.”

Members also alleged that the companies harassed them in private.

“They also tried to persuade or provoke discord by secretly meeting some of our parents,” they said.
