Rappers Sean and beloved actress Jung Hye Young they touched hearts across the country with their unique way of celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Instead of a lavish party or lavish gifts, the couple spent the special day giving back to the community, continuing a tradition that began two decades ago.
On October 8, Sean shared on Instagram that he and his wife celebrated their anniversary by volunteering Bapuran organization in Seoul that provides free meals to the homeless. The couple has performed similar acts of kindness every year since they got married.
Sean remembered the day after their wedding when he proposed an idea to Jung Hye Young: instead of keeping all the happiness of their marriage for themselves, they should share it with others. The two decided to donate â‚©10,000 KRW (about $7.44 USD) every day, and by the end of each year, they would donate the accumulated amount to charity.
For the past 20 years, the couple has stuck to this routine, donating the equivalent of around â‚©3.65 million KRW (about $2,710) every year. In leap years, when there is an extra day, they add a little more. Their total donations now stand at a staggering KRW 73.1 million (approximately $54,300).
The couple’s efforts are not limited to financial donations. Every year on their anniversary, they actively participate in serving meals to the homeless, creating a tradition that is as meaningful to them as it is to those they help.
Sean shared that this experience brought them immense happiness, much greater than the monetary value of their donations. She expressed a desire that their small acts of kindness would inspire others to also find joy in giving.
