Former SM Entertainment idol and JYJ member Yoochun Park has recently seen a massive increase in its activities.
Yoochun originally debuted as a member of TVXQ in 2003, but in 2009, together with Kim Junsu AND Kim Jaejoongfiled an injunction against SM Entertainment to suspend their exclusivity contracts.
After a long dispute, the two sides reached an agreement to terminate the contracts and not interfere with future activities, even though the three members had been blacklisted by the media until recently.
The three idols later debuted again as JYJ in 2010, although Yoochun’s activities in the group would end with his announced retirement in 2019, related to his ongoing controversies. He was arrested on charges of illegal drug use, eventually admitting to purchasing and using methamphetamine.
Yoochun was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and a fine of ₩1.40 million KRW (approximately $1,000 USD). In 2023 he was also included in a list of tax evaders.
This year, the idol faced another controversy, this time being sued by his former manager for unpaid wages.
