Before making the final payment on the property, Lee Yeon-hee secured a “preliminary registration” of the right to claim ownership transfer (a sale reservation).
According to the court registry, Lee Yeon-hee and her husband, Mr. A, jointly purchased a single-family house in Seongbuk-dong in early July for 3.4 billion won. The house extends from a basement to two floors above ground. Because the final payment has not yet been made, the property is subject to a transfer of title reserve, which is a mechanism used to avoid double sales by sellers after a contract is signed but before the final payment is completed.
The property purchased by Lee Yeon-hee and her husband has an area of 354㎡ (about 107 pyeong) and a total area of about 298㎡ (about 90 pyeong), purchased at 31.75 million won for 3.3㎡. Transaction records nearby show that a similar property was sold in September for 31.03 million won per 3.3㎡. Additionally, a nearby 1,822㎡ (about 552 pyeong) vacant lot, located a two-minute walk from Lee’s property, is currently on the market for 24.1 million won for 3.3㎡.
Nearby are several foreign residences, including those of the Netherlands and Singapore, as well as museums and temples. Opposite the house is the residence of Lee Joong-geun, chairman of Booyoung Group, who purchased his house in 2021 for 8.8 billion won.
Seongbuk-dong is known for low foot traffic, tight security, and as a favorite neighborhood for prominent businessmen and celebrities who value privacy. With the Bukhansan Mountains behind you and a view of Namsan on the horizon, Seongbuk-dong is one of the three wealthiest neighborhoods in northern Seoul, along with Pyeongchang-dong in Jongno-gu and Hannam-dong in Yongsan-gu.
The area is reportedly home to celebrities such as actor Kim Woo-bin, couple Bae Yong-joon and Park Soo-jin, singers Lee Seung-gi and Lee Seung-chul. Additionally, BLACKPINK’s Lisa attracted attention in 2022 by purchasing a 7.5 billion won house in Seongbuk-dong, which previously belonged to Jang Seon-yoon, grandson of the late Shin Kyuk-ho, the group’s honorary president Lotte. Actor Yoo Hae-jin also bought a house in Seongbuk-dong for 4.5 billion won in cash late last year, while rapper Beenzino bought a two-story house there for 4.5 billion won in the same year.
