On November 6, KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo Radio Show” introduced the main cast of KBS2’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “Face me”including Lee Min-ki, Han Ji-hyun and Lee Yi-kyung.
“Face me” is a medical drama that follows the partnership between a cold-hearted plastic surgeon and a passionate millennial detective from the violent crimes unit as they seek the truth behind cases through reconstructive surgery for crime victims.
During the show, Lee Yi-kyung explained, “Cha Jung-woo (played by Lee Min-ki) and I are friends on the show. He is a plastic surgeon and when Han Ji-hyun’s character joins as a detective, plastic surgeons get involved in a certain case. It’s a story about deduction, similar to an autopsy, and the hunt for criminals.
Furthermore, Lee Min-ki and Han Ji-hyun added, “The concept is not to change faces through plastic surgery. While we can’t reveal everything, it is a drama about healing not only the physical wounds but also the emotional trauma of victims at crime scenes through reconstructive surgery. We help them recover from the wounds caused by crimes.”
Han Ji-hyun said that playing a detective was particularly challenging, saying: “The terminology couldn’t come to mind, so I had to memorize everything until it was time to shoot.”
When DJ Park Myung-soo commented on it “She seems too delicate to be a detective” she laughed and replied, “It’s good to hear that. I trained hard at action school and practiced movement coordination, although I’m not sure how well it went, but I gave it my all.
Lee Min-ki, who has shot many surgery scenes, shared: “The terminology wasn’t particularly difficult, but because there were a lot of surgical scenes, creating numerous scenarios within the center was challenging.”
Lee Yi-kyung also agrees, adding: “We consulted with real doctors to make it as authentic as possible and positioned everything exactly like a real surgery. It was difficult to blend the filming environment with reality,” raising expectations for the show.
The questions continued to focus on Lee Min-ki. When DJ Park Myung-soo asked: “Is Lee Min-ki a master of romantic comedies?” he humbly denied it, saying: “No, I haven’t had one in so long that I’m not sure I still have it in me.” When asked about being “the kind of younger man that older women like”, he replied, “I might have been then, but not anymore. I really like going out with older guys, but lately I spend a lot of time alone. These days I only meet people I’ve worked with on projects.
Furthermore, when Lee Min-ki denied being one “a master of kissing scenes”, said, “It’s been too long since I’ve done that kind of thing,” DJ Park Myung-soo playfully teases, “The kissing scene from “Why This Is My First Life” has 10 million views on YouTube. Do you like kissing?” Lee Min-ki resigned himself to answering “YES,” making everyone laugh.
