On November 4, the KCSC held a general meeting at Mok-dong Broadcasting Hall in Seoul, where it discussed and decided legal sanctions for 11 cases, including SBS’s “Inkigayo.”
The KCSC issued a “warning” for “Inkigayo” over several scenes in which the NewJeans, who served as promotional models for a specific brand of cell phone, repeatedly performed movements during the “ETA” phase that were reminiscent of a commercial, thus providing an inappropriate advertising effect.
MBC’s “I Live Alone,” a show with more than 15 ratings, was also reported for glamorizing drinking by repeatedly broadcasting scenes of participants drinking with captions such as “Perfect taste of soju” and “Happiness in a full glass.” in multiple episodes. The KCSC will further evaluate the matter after hearing statements from the program’s creators. The show had aired scenes of cast members such as Park Na-rae, TWICE’s Jihyo, Kim Dae-ho, SHINee’s Key, Lee Jang-woo and Kian84 drinking, raising concerns about promoting a positive image of alcohol consumption .
Finally, JTBC’s “Queen of Divorce” received a “recommendation” for airing scenes of domestic violence, including one in which a husband pulls his wife by the hair, during youth-protected viewing hours.
