On November 1st, BABYMONSTER (Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, Chiquita) held a press conference at YG Entertainment headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first full-length album “DRIP.”
This return comes just three months after their previous release and marks their first album since their debut. Having officially debuted in April this year with the addition of member Ahyeon, BABYMONSTER is releasing their first full-length album in less than a year since their debut.
Rora shared, “We are finally here with our first full album. It might seem fast, but it was possible thanks to the support and love of our fans. Before releasing this album, we successfully concluded our meetings with fans. It was a significant moment where we connected with fans and learned a lot. We are experiencing a truly significant first year.”
Chiquita added, “We are excited to showcase BABYMONSTER’s new charm through this album, which contains various genres,” while Ahyeon pointed out, “We faced many new challenges. During our monthly evaluations, we practiced different genres and this album allows us to showcase that spectrum.”
The complete album “DRIP” contains nine tracks, including double-titled tracks “DRIP” AND “CLIK CLAK”, “Love, maybe” with beautiful voices on guitar instrumentation, “I really like you” with its 90s hip-hop vibe, “BILLIONAIRE” combining heavy 808 bass with R&B sounds for a Y2K, upbeat vibe “Love in my heart” aimed at listeners of all ages, “I woke up in Tokyo” (RUKA & ASA) showing the Japanese members’ hip-hop vibes, pre-release single “FOREVER,” and fan favorite “BATTER UPRemix” from the encore of their fan meeting.
Rami explained: “True to the album title “DRIP”, we filled it with the overflowing charm of BABYMONSTER. Being our first full album, we made an extra effort. With nine tracks in total, the various genres will give listeners the joy of choosing their favorites.” adding, “We prepared this album thinking about how to best showcase everything we’ve built through touring and our fan meeting activities.”
Ruka then stated: “I think this album will express YG’s new classic. We hope you will show a lot of interest as we will be able to showcase both our unique vocal colors and our teenage aspects.
As planned, BABYMONSTER’s first full album “DRIP” will be released at 1pm (KST) on November 1st.
