Recently, HYBE documents were released with damning comments about other idols from various K-Pop companies, including HYBE subsidiaries. On October 30, a screenshot supposedly showing the founder of HYBE went around Bang Si Hyuk asking, “Please add Zico [redacted email address] to the list of recipients.”
In a screenshot from 2023, following the initial email and apparently containing the report, Kang Myung Seokthe person who wrote the reports, responded, “Okay, it’s been added.”
At the bottom of the updated email, it says: “Kang Myung Seok shared 1 document.” The box below shows an update that explains: “Kang Myung Seok sent you a message about this document: The music industry report has been updated.” It apparently contained confirmation that the document had been sent to Zico.
After the alleged email was sent, Zico immediately took to Instagram to clarify his position. In the post, the idol explained that he double-checked with staff before stating that he had not opened or viewed the email.
What’s going on… I checked out the article that came out today and thought I’d leave a message because I thought you might want to hear it directly from me.
I have never seen a document like it. In fact, I have never even opened such emails before. I only found out I was added to the recipient list from today’s article. I don’t want to cause any misunderstandings, but I thought that one message alone wouldn’t clarify everything.
So, before drafting this statement, I directly asked KOZ to confirm that no emails and/or documents had been opened/viewed. For those of you who were worried, please. I hope you had a peaceful day today.
— Zico
