On the popular music critic Kim Young Dae‘S YouTube channel, as a guest on his program, Kim Young Dae Music Schoolon October 29, 2024 (KST), Min said she held back from commenting on the document for an entire year before finally sending a scathing email, criticizing the practice.

Well, there’s a reason why I rejected the document that is now the center of everyone’s attention… I wrote them a scathing email criticizing it. I was like, ‘I’ve held myself back for a whole year, but I can’t take it anymore. What are you doing?! Whose benefit are these reports being written for? Do you find this funny or something?’

Min added that he had seen the “reports” compiling the document “it stressed her out so much” who, after a while, stopped reading them altogether.

HYBE founder Bang Si Hyuk was reportedly directly involved in the orders of controversial internal documents

Eventually it stressed me out so much that I stopped reading them altogether. Like, I couldn’t bring myself to read any of this. What was it for? Who served? I couldn’t understand.

—Min Hee Jin

But the real reason why Min was against the document was for the good of the K-Pop entertainment industry and its people.

But what really scared me about that document was… Considering how much the company has grown, there were a lot of people who knew nothing about the practices of the industry in which they were being hired. Some of them even took on higher, C-level positions. And all those people were learning about the entertainment business through that document, basically. This terrified me.

And the thing is, people who are just starting out tend to learn to believe and do what they’re told. So, why are these people given such material? What would this mean for the entertainment industry in the long run? Maybe these people might think something is wrong at first. But people adapt. They might think, “Maybe I’m the weird one” OR “Maybe that’s how this industry works.” I’m just saying that that document may have developed some really wrong perceptions.

Min had hoped that her criticism would stop the news, however, it was she who was stopped in the next series of events.

I said, ‘I wait. If you think there’s nothing wrong with these reports, then you should let everyone take a look.’

—Min Hee Jin

CEO of HYBE, Lee Jae Sanghe apologized on behalf of the company for the document. Lee recognized this “the documents lacked awareness of the potential problems they would entail” and claimed to have “blocked the creation of future documents” as a response to the criticisms received.
