According to Xports News’ investigation on October 25, despite recent contract renewal discussions with CUBE Entertainment, the negotiations ultimately failed. As a result, both Soyeon and CUBE will go their separate ways.
Soyeon’s contract with CUBE will expire in November, a fact that had previously come to light when she changed the lyrics during her solo performance at a concert in August, singing “The contract expires in November. Who will stop me?”
At the time, CUBE initially stated this “All members are ready for contract renewal” and that “The lyrics were just part of the stage performance.” However, they later changed their position, confirming that Soyeon’s contract actually expires in November. Throughout this period, Soyeon openly expressed her dissatisfaction with CUBE, even publicly criticizing the company.
Following her decision to part ways with CUBE, Soyeon will now begin looking for a new agency. Given that other (G)I-DLE members still have time remaining on their contracts with CUBE, questions arise about the group’s future activities.
On another note, Soyeon’s contract timing differs from that of the other members because she initially debuted as a solo artist in November 2017, before the group (G)I-DLE debuted in May 2018.
