BLACKPINK member Rosé saw a surge in the success of her new song “APT.”, released in collaboration with pop superstar Bruno Mars, causing YG PLUS to reach its maximum limit on the 21st.
According to the Korea Exchange, YG PLUS closed trading at 3,480 won, up 29.85% from the previous trading day.
Previously, at exactly 1 PM (KST) on October 18, BLACKPINK’s Bruno Mars and Rosé officially dropped their groundbreaking collaboration titled “APT.” This collaboration has been described as a unique release between “King of Funk” and “Australian Rose”. Prior to the launch, there were no confirmations or promotions, but rumors that Rosé wanted to kiss Bruno Mars (revealed by the latter himself) have stirred social media around the world, creating a buzz of anticipation for this shocking partnership.
“APT” (short for *Apartment*) was written by Bruno Mars and Rosé. It is expected that the song will be a stand-alone single, not present on any album by the two artists. Pre-orders for the CD single “APT” sold out almost instantly but were quickly restocked shortly after. The “APT” MV, shot in a simple studio environment, features artistic cinematography, meeting every aesthetic standard. The familiar pop-rock vibe blends seamlessly with the musical styles of Rosé and Bruno Mars, but *APT* presents a fresh twist, setting itself apart from Rosé’s previous hits.
The music video for “APT”, much like the “kiss” Bruno Mars mentioned, was all a clever marketing tactic for the song. From a Korean drinking game to the shy and awkward moments where Bruno gets “attacked” by Rosé, the video is full of playful energy. Rosé especially took fans by surprise with a charming “stolen kiss” from Bruno Mars. Contrary to the heartbreaking ballads many expected, “APT” is a lively and fun pop-rock track that captures the playful synergy between Bruno Mars and Rosé.
This collaboration shows a different side of Rosé, one that fans rarely see. No longer the fragile girl of *On The Ground* or the broken heart of “Gone”, “APT” tells the adorable love story of a couple, with every note and vocal harmony captivating the audience. Many are calling this unexpected and electrifying collaboration between Bruno Mars and Rosé a serious contender for “Die With A Smile”, the legendary duet between Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
