NewJeans’ Hyein drew criticism by changing her profile picture

On October 15, while NewJeans Hanni was present as a witness at the audit of the Committee on Environment and Labor of the National Assembly, the attention of netizens was drawn to the NewJeans rabbit character, Bunnies, attached to the tablet PC of Democratic Party member Park Hong-bae, who was questioning her. The rabbits attacked by Park Hong-bae were wearing a blue jacket, the symbolic color of the Democratic Party, with the National Assembly in the background.

In the wake of this, after Hanni’s appearance at the audit, Hyein changed her profile picture on the fan communication platform: calling a blue bunny, which attracted attention. Some have speculated that since blue is the symbolic color of the Democratic Party, it was “showing his political colour”. As a result, there has been criticism that Hyein, who is a famous idol, should not show her position as it might influence her fans.

In response, Hyein changed it to a black and white version, but as the controversy continued, she eventually replaced it with a completely different image.

Some netizens believe that Hyein, who is only 16 years old, did not change her profile to support a specific party. However, they noted that even small actions could cause conflict if associated with political aspects, suggesting that caution is needed.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Hanni testified at the National Assembly audit as a witness in this regard “Mobbing by idols and harassment in the workplace”.

Hanni, who previously revealed that she was told “Ignore her” from a manager from another label within HYBE, stated, “I came out today because I knew that if I didn’t appear here, all this would pass quietly and be buried. This could happen to anyone in the future. I went out hoping that other seniors, juniors, my colleagues or interns currently in the industry don’t have to experience this kind of thing.

ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young explained: “The manager (Hanni mentioned) belongs to another company with a different CEO. However, we sought confirmation from that label’s artists and managers to see if such an incident has occurred. And unfortunately we also checked whether the footage from the video surveillance cameras, which had expired, could be restored, intervening as much as I could.”
