Nikita, who is half Mexican and half Vietnamese, has been accused of blackfishing in the past. “Blackfishing” is the act of a non-Black person attempting to appear Black or racially ambiguous. This may include darkening your skin, appropriating black hairstyles, etc.

Now, her latest style has shocked netizens even more. One TikTok user shared a video reacting to Nikita’s “unrecognizable” appearance, which has gone viral with 3.4 million views as of this writing.

Netizens shared their reactions in the comments section. Many confessed that they initially thought the person in the video was a K-Pop idol, not Nikita.
Nikita recently traveled to South Korea. Since then, she has been giving herself a makeover and experimenting with Korean makeup.
Many of her followers supported her, saying it’s her best look yet. Some also praise her for “embracing” her Asian side.
However, many cannot ignore that Nikita is noticeably lighter than she has ever been, sparking speculation about skin lightening. Many netizens believe that Nikita has now “whitened” and is once again trying to belong to an ethnicity to which she does not belong.
