On October 14, Choa opened up about her battle with cervical cancer on her social media account.
He said: “There are many people who suffer more than me, so I am cautious. But I thought my story might give someone a little help and hope, even just a little. Cancer has taken many things away from me, but it has also given me great realizations and lessons about the direction of my life, and I now live a much healthier and more vibrant life.”
Choa shared: “I will soon have to undergo another surgery to preserve my fertility. Since I had to have my cervix removed, I will undergo a procedure to ligate my uterine corpus early.” He expressed his wish, “There are many obstacles to overcome for pregnancy and childbirth in the future, but I want to meet a beautiful baby, become a mother, and offer comfort and hope to those who have gone through similar experiences after being fully healed.“
He advised: “If you are going through an extremely difficult and dark time right now, remember that this too shall pass and don’t let go of the thread of hope.”
In a video posted alongside her post, Choa revealed: “I was diagnosed with cancer at 33. In May last year I happily celebrated my first year of marriage. I went to the hospital for a prenatal checkup and that day I was diagnosed with cervical cancer.” He said: “At first I couldn’t believe it. How can a young, healthy person like me have cancer? I wondered if it was a misdiagnosis. I visited five of the best teaching hospitals in the country.”
He continued: “I underwent various cancer tests, including my first MRI and pet CT. The diagnosis was stage 1 cancer. I was told that due to a 3cm tumor, preserving my fertility would be difficult. It was like a bolt from the blue and I cried so much that my legs were weak and I couldn’t see ahead. It was the hardest time of my life, but I held my husband’s hands tight, I prayed and I didn’t give up..” He explained: “To reduce the size of the tumor, I did everything I could. I studied daily, exercised and completely changed my diet.”
Choa reflected: “Thanks to these efforts, the size of the tumor was much smaller than expected at the time of surgery and I was miraculously able to preserve my fertility.” He shared that it has been more than a year since the surgery and he recently passed his fourth follow-up exam.
In this regard, netizens left messages of support such as: “I’m so happy you are healthy“, “I pray for your recovery and hope you find a beautiful little angel“, “You’ve been through a difficult time” AND “I didn’t know you were sick because you always looked bright. I hope that now you expect only happiness.”
Meanwhile, Choa debuted in 2012 as part of the group Crayon Pop and married a businessman six years older than her in 2021.
