Park Ji-ah debuted in 2002 and gained recognition for her role as Jung Mi-hee, Song Hye-kyo’s mother, in the Netflix series “The Glory” (2022~2023). On September 30, he died at the age of 52 while battling a cerebral infarction, leaving the public in grief.
On October 8, Park Ji-ah’s younger brother shared a heartfelt post on SNS about Yeom Hye-ran, attracting many people’s attention. Yeom Hye-ran played Kang Hyeon-nam, affectionately called “Auntie” by Song Hye-kyo, in “The Glory”. Yeom Hye-ran also won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards held in Busan on October 6 for her role in “Mask Girl.” During his acceptance speech, he said: “I remember the late actress Park Ji-ah, who always told me that I was a blessed actress. I pray that he rests peacefully in heaven.“
Park Ji-ah’s younger brother posted a screenshot of Yeom Hye-ran’s acceptance speech article and expressed his gratitude, “Thank you, Yeom Hye-ran. When my sister was fighting for her life in the ICU and visitors weren’t allowed, you visited her multiple times and prayed for her even though she was just outside the door. Even after she barely made it through the critical moments and was still battling her illness, you came to see me multiple times, offering conversations and care that gave my sister strength. We learned from the nurses about the love and friendship you showed her, without our family knowing.”
He continued: “You were there until my sister’s last moments, showing unwavering friendship, holding my mother’s hand, hugging her and comforting her. We are so grateful. I feel like I didn’t thank you properly at that time, so I want to bow my head in deep gratitude one more time.”
He added “I came across the article by chance during my day and it brought great comfort to me and my mother. Thank you for not forgetting my sister, even during the joyful moment of receiving the award. Congratulations on your well-deserved victory” and tagged Yeom Hye-ran.
After Park Ji-ah’s funeral on October 2, her younger brother shared his grief: “After saying goodbye to my sister… I miss those moments when we called each other ‘fools’ and joked. It hurts so much, like my heart is broken. She was so innocent and naive, unaware of the harshness of the world, and I was always worried about her. But now I just hope that he is really happy, without worries, in the place where dad is. I miss you so much! I miss you like crazy!“
