Hyoyeon surprisingly responded that she had actually tried to pursue entrepreneurship. “I opened a buckwheat dumpling and noodle shop in Los Angeles,” he explained, adding that it was run by his parents and younger siblings. However, due to visa issues, his parents had to step back and his brothers and their spouses took over the business.

The idol then shared the unfortunate circumstances that led to the failure of his business. She and her family had decided to sell buckwheat noodles for the business since they sell well in the summer and Los Angeles has a warm climate year-round. But when Hyoyeon opened her restaurant, time decided to go the other way.

At the time, LA was between 10 and 17 degrees Celsius year-round. Isn’t Los Angeles supposed to always be hot? I was watching the CCTV and everyone was wearing long sleeves and padded jackets… Buckwheat sells well in the summer, but the business ended up failing.

The idol added that the cost of maintaining the business and welcoming his brothers was “huge.” The venture failed so badly he decided never to try again.

It goes without saying that Hyoyeon’s lack of resourcefulness is more than made up for by her multifaceted talent as an artist.
