The husband of a foreigner caught taking photos of naked women in a Korean sauna in Jeju has gone on TV to defend his actions, causing outrage among netizens.
In July, a woman from Hong Kong joined a tour of Jeju and visited a Korean sauna. According to her husband, she didn’t know that taking photos was not allowed in the sauna and was caught after taking naked photos of three Korean women.
Nearly three months later, her husband appeared on a local TV program in Hong Kong to talk about what had happened. Her husband, defending her, stressed that what she had done was a simple mistake due to her passion for photographs and the fact that she had not received any warning against photographs in the sauna.
The tour guide didn’t tell him. Nobody told him. He also couldn’t understand the “no photos” sign there. She likes taking photos. Hong Kong people love taking photos while traveling, so as soon as we got off the plane, she went crazy taking pictures of everything. It was a mistake, not a wrongdoing.

However, the TV show got in touch with someone from the same tour group and her story was different from her husband’s.
There was a sign on the door that said “no photos” and you had to come in completely naked. I have no idea how she got in [with her phone]. The sign contained text and an image of a defaced camera. You might say you couldn’t take photos as soon as you entered. They were all naked.

The husband also further defended the woman’s actions by blaming them on cultural differences.
He loves traveling and taking photos. It’s not that she likes photographing meaningless things like obscene scenes and people taking showers. The thing is, when we went to hot springs in mainland China in the past, we always took photos there afterwards. Maybe she got used to it and there was a cultural difference, so she made a mistake.

Netizens were not happy with her husband’s words.

“Do you need me to remind you that you can’t take naked photos of other people? It’s just common sense. Would you normally go into the locker room to take naked photos of other people? Stop giving them airtime.
-
“This couple has no remorse. They just want to quickly resolve the matter themselves. They’re just acting.”
-
“Stop giving them airtime; they don’t deserve help. They just don’t want to spend money on hiring a lawyer, so they got the TV show to help them! You need to hire a lawyer even if it means you have to borrow money from someone, otherwise your wife will go to prison for a long time. You still don’t think there was anything wrong with his actions and blame it on cultural differences. How ridiculous.”
-
“The man also said that it was not an offense but a mistake. Is it so difficult to apologize to the victims? You speak so confidently without regret and you even blamed the tour guide for not saying you couldn’t take photos. You stated that she didn’t know and didn’t understand. How crazy. I’m in favor of giving her a harsh rating.

“I feel like they’re playing the victim. The groupmate didn’t even defend them. It was obvious that photos were not allowed.
The woman is currently still in Jeju, awaiting further progress on her case without detention.
