On October 5, Jiyeon’s legal representative, lawyer Choi Yoo Na of Taesung Law Firm, said: âJiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun were unable to overcome their differences and, after a period of separation, decided to divorce. They filed for divorce mediation in the Seoul Family Court.â
The legal representative added: âWe earnestly ask that you refrain from inflammatory reporting and speculative comments.â
Jiyeon also expressed her thoughts through her legal representative, âI apologize for breaking unfortunate news. We mutually agreed to undergo divorce mediation. I ask for your understanding for not addressing this issue sooner. I will work hard to welcome you with a better image in the future.â
Jiyeon debuted with T-ara in 2009, earning love for hit songs like “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” “Roly-Poly,” “Lovey-Dovey,” and “I Go Crazy Because of You.” She was also active as an actress in drama films such as “Master of Study”, “Dream High 2”, “Triangle” and “Imitation”.
Hwang Jae Gyun, who debuted as a professional baseball player with the Hyundai Unicorns in 2006, has played for Lotte Giants, San Francisco Giants and has been with KT Wiz since 2018.
The couple married in December 2022.
