Stray Kids’ new album “GIANT” was a great success

Fans believe that artificial intelligence was used.

Stray children recently announced their second Japanese album GIANT. The group’s official Japanese social media account shared a promotional image, presumably the album cover. The album will be released on November 13th.

While STAY is excited about the new music, they are disappointed with the image.

Many STAY believe the image was created using artificial intelligence (AI). AI-generated art (which many argue cannot be considered “art” since it is technically not designed by artists/people) is becoming more and more common, much to people’s dismay. AI art has been criticized for using images of human artists as teaching materials without permission, as well as for its ability to take jobs away from real artists. Many boycott companies that use artificial intelligence in their creative process.

As a result, tweets quoting Stray Kids posts are filled with disgruntled fans expressing outrage over JYP entertainmentthe alleged use of artificial intelligence. Many felt the image not only looked fake but ugly.

Some STAY said they would prefer an artist use an application like Picsart rather than simply generate art via AI.

STAY also believes that it is offensive to Stray Kids as musical artists to use artificial intelligence for their album covers. If JYP Entertainment is okay with using AI instead of an artist to create the visuals, what’s stopping them from replacing musicians with AI?

Some STAYs also highlighted details (or lack thereof) in the image to show signs of AI.
