Further details revealed that the suspect, known only by his surname, Park, took a knife from the restaurant he runs in Suncheon. Before the murder, he had consumed four bottles of soju and ordered snacks from his shop. After obtaining the knife, Park wandered the streets and accidentally met the victim about a kilometer from his restaurant. He followed her and stabbed her several times, leading to her death.

Park immediately fled the scene, even leaving his slippers behind as he ran. He abandoned the knife about 500 meters from the crime scene and later stopped at a pub, where he drank half a bottle of beer before being arrested. He told police he could not remember the events clearly due to the alcohol he had consumed.
