Fans labeled it “scary” and “creepy.”
The topic of artificial intelligence and its uses has been controversial in K-Pop spaces for over a year now – and this latest development may just have proven why. With many fans terrified of what might happen to their favorite artists if labels started using AI for more than just gibberish images generated on music videos, what happened to the soloist? Soha can serve as a warning to all operators in the sector.
Soha, also known by her full name, An Seo Hyun, is an independent singer-songwriter. Some may remember her from her days in the pre-debut girl group White Witchothers from his brief appearance on the survival show Burn 30. Regardless, Soha has been active in the music scene since her debut in 2020. The 20-year-old singer has been through a lot in her volatile career, but nothing compares to what happened to her after becoming a singer for a new virtual idol.
She initially started singing for virtual idols by doing so for a virtual girl group called Eternity in 2021.
Besides Eternity, Soha has worked as a singer for virtual idol Aimy Luna since 2021, after his stints in White Witch and Burn Up 30 proved unsuccessful. Aimy Moon is managed by Korean label Enterart.
Although Soha has been working for them and singing for Aimy Moon for years now, she recently discovered that the label had used artificial intelligence to release a new song using her voice but without the singer’s permission.
Understandably, this infuriated Soha and her fans, forcing the company to issue an apology addressing the situation. The CEO of Enterarts himself wrote a short statement in which he apologized “as a CEO and as a musician” for the unauthorized creation of AI voices using Soha’s voice recordings.
I’m Park Chan Jae, CEO of EnterArts.
Regarding the use of artist An Seo Hyun’s voice data in our music production, I deeply apologize as CEO and as a musician for the unauthorized creation of AI voices using his voice recordings, which were used without prior consent to produce and publish the song “NEWS” for our virtual character, Aimy Luna.
From now on, our company promises that we will not use An Seo Hyun’s or any other artist’s voice data to generate AI voices without prior consultation under any circumstances.
– Park Chan Jae
An apology was also issued on Aimy Moon’s Instagram account.
In response, Soha shared the statement on her Instagram Stories, and while she was still shocked and shocked by the alarming news, she wrote that she hopes this type of unauthorized use never happens again.
[A] a song I never sang was released with my voice. I was so embarrassed and upset, and the advancement of technology suddenly seemed really scary to me. As a musician, my voice is a precious voice that I have to put time and effort into. I support the advancement of artificial intelligence, but I hope this type of unauthorized use never happens again, to me or to anyone else.

Fans on social media platforms have not held back in revealing how “creepy” and “scary” artificial intelligence can be when it comes to music and other arts. They also asked fellow fans to stop using AI to create artificial covers of K-Pop artists, as this can promote similar unethical use by labels and more.
