Kim Woo Bin Diagnosed With Cancer

To Shin, who commented on how surprised he was to hear the news, given his personal experience with his mother’s battle with cancer, Kim admitted that the diagnosis “afraid” him too, because his doctor didn’t seem very confident about the treatment.

You know this, ladbut I’m an optimistic person. I try to see the bright side of everything. So when my doctor gave me the news like they do in K-Dramas… Saying, “Worst case scenario, you’d have about six months,” At first I was shocked and scared. I wanted it to be a dream, you know? But I never asked myself, “What if I don’t make it?” Instead, I saw it as an opportunity.

For Kim, looking at the situation in a positive light and having the undivided support of his fans helped him beat cancer.

Of course, I didn’t see it as an opportunity right away. But as I focused on treatment and recovery, I was able to change the way I looked at it. For over a decade since I debuted, I’ve been so busy and haven’t had a chance to take any real breaks. So, I thought maybe this was a heaven-given opportunity to stop, reflect, and spend time with my family.

I spent a lot of time with the people I love. The treatment itself… Yes, it was hard, but it’s hard for everyone. I received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from people just because they knew me. So many prayers, too. And I truly believe that gave me the strength to beat the cancer. I was making so much progress that I even surprised the doctors. I was seeing visible improvements. And I know it was all because of the support and prayers that I got better so quickly.

Since then, Kim has found her “personal mission” to spread the same kind of energy to those who might need it.

I always think about the support I have received. And I want to pass it on to more people. So, before I went to bed, I started praying that more families would experience miracles. It became like a personal mission for me… To remember what I have received and give it back to others.
