The clip has gone viral with 1.2 million and 1.4 million views on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok as of this writing. Netizens were shocked to hear the members use the word “c*nty.” They wondered how Yunjin would explain it to Chaewon.
Originally, “c*unty” was a misogynistic slang insult. However, it has recently been reclaimed and is used in a substantially similar way to describing someone as a “bad a*ss.” According to Rolling Stone: “A new generation has reclaimed the word ‘c*tt’ online, stripping away its misogynistic connotations and positioning it as something to aspire to.”
Yunjin was specifically mentioning a new meme during the live broadcast. On September 11, The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (also known as the VMAs). SSERAFIM performed their hits “Crazy” and “1-800-hot-n-fun” at the 2024 VMA (VMA) Pre-show. Drag queen Plasma, Meeting with Amanda ToriAND Sunrise They acted as correspondents during the event and when they saw Chaewon, they reacted to her bob with “this c*nty helmet,” which went viral.
