On September 15, the YouTube channel “Jin-gyeok’s Lawyer” covered topics related to NewJeans’ emergency live broadcast, Min Hee-jin’s request for an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, and the provisional provision on the appointment of directors. During the broadcast, the lawyer introduced a comment left on his previous video.
In that comment, one user, Mr. A, said: “It seems like HYBE is at greater risk by keeping an ungrateful person around. However, in a multi-label company, NewJeans is just a popular product, so they should cut the traitor out and root out anyone who supports them.“
In response, the lawyer read his reply to the comment for his subscribers: “But I have doubts that HYBE can grow into a big company if it simply treats artists as popular commodities.“
He added: “What I consider common sense is actually the opposite of what many others believe. Many people think it is natural that HYBE artists are just popular products and that anyone who sides with a “traitor” should be completely removed.“
In the video, the lawyer also predicted that NewJeans’ emergency live broadcast could have an impact in court. He explained, “NewJeans stands to lose more than they gain by publicly criticizing HYBE, but the fact that they acted this way demonstrates their sincerity, which could carry weight in court.“
Previously, on September 11, NewJeans members held a live broadcast on YouTube. During the broadcast, they stated that they had been ostracized by HYBE and issued an ultimatum to the company, demanding that former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin be reinstated by the 25th.
Drawing strength from NewJeans’ public support, Min Hee-jin filed a petition with the Seoul Central District Court on September 13 for an “injunction to convene a special shareholders’ meeting and reappoint her as an internal director of ADOR.”
