Soloist andaJ (also known as DAY 6‘S Jade) was recently a guest on Zach Sang Show to promote his upcoming EP When it stops raining.
The last time eaJ was a guest on the show, he was introduced as a member of DAY6. Then, Zach Sang asked eaJ about his feelings after leaving the group, including his regrets.
👤 I didn’t introduce you like this the last time you were here
🐥yes, I was mm… Jae from DAY6
👤 two different people?
🐥 I don’t know, it seems to me that they are basically the same person
🐥 but they’re probably just different ways of doing certain things
🐥 simply similar but different https://t.co/MXUtRdLIMn photo.twitter.com/9TcW130rd9— 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊 𝒎𝒆 𝑴𝒚𝒖 🪴 (@mwday6) September 12, 2024
Zach Sang asked eaJ, “Why should people blame you for anything?” EaJ explained that many people felt that he was contributing a lot to the DAY6 drama. He admitted that he had made some mistakes, “I think a lot of people were upset because I was creating a lot of drama in the group, speaking out about a lot of things, and honestly, again, I made a lot of mistakes aside from that, and I felt bad about those things.”
One of eaJ’s new songs is called “i just want my 20s back”. He revealed that it’s about multiple people, but it mostly seems like it’s about how he felt after giving up his 20s for his career, only to have it erased, as he seems to have been erased from DAY6’s history.
It hurts because I see people trying to erase me from the history of that band when I wrote a lot of songs. Yeah, I spent my 20s there… and now I’m just getting erased, and I kind of respect them completely, and I really wish them the best, and they’re going to be on top of the world, and they’re kind of already doing it incredibly well. … I don’t know if I have the right to say this, but I’m really proud of them…

He was later asked: “Has the K-Pop community… forgiven you, or do you think some of them have turned their backs on you anyway?” EaJ feels he is not loved by the K-Pop community. He explained that he was mentally stuck at 18 for a while, immature and angry, and regrets how he acted during his scandals.
I was very angry, not at anyone but at the label and the entity that was the chain of command that I was in… The more I think about it lately, I’m starting to realize more and more that I’ve been projecting that anger onto people who were in specific situations where I was already angry about something, and I don’t think they deserved it. … I was just a little immature. … There were other factors. … I’m not trying to make excuses for myself, I just think I could have done things a lot better…

Yet, eaJ confessed that hate comments bother him. He tries to ignore them, but they continue to affect him.
Just yesterday I read a comment that said there was this weird rumor going around, I don’t know where it came from because I’ve never said anything like that, but it was like, ‘Oh, there’s a rumor that Jae is coming back to DAY6, which is absolutely not true and I just read a comment that said… ‘Get that ugly monkey out of here or something’… And I was like, ‘What have I done to you?’
I’ve been doing this for about 12 years, and I’ve seen my fair share of hate comments and train cancellations and all that… It’s hard for me… I’ve learned, to a certain extent, to try to ignore it and say, you know, there’s always going to be someone who hates you and even if I say it out loud, it just hurts me to see stuff like that…

When DAY6’s eighth EP Four times was released, it divided the fandom. Many felt that the title was overshadowing eaJ. Now, eaJ has revealed his true feelings. He confessed, “It hurt a little.”
I know… it’s like they did all this analysis and the story behind it, but I mean, like, in my head, it’s hard for me to watch anything from DAY6 just because, like, I don’t know, it reminds me of a lot of things. For a long time, it was hard for me to even go back to Korea because every time I landed there was this feeling of anxiety and just uneasiness…

EaJ stressed that he doesn’t feel the band is responsible for this and that he still wishes them the best. However, he thinks that someone in the label wants to erase him from DAY6’s history, which fans have already noticed, as he was even cut from the pictures. It hurts because he spent so much time promoting them to the best of his ability, writing songs, etc.
My gut reaction was that… I felt like someone… I don’t think it’s the band… but someone was trying to erase me from the history of all of this, and it hurts because… I literally gave up my career in Korea for that team, I fought… to promote as much as I could, and now that they’re gone they’re trying to erase all of that, but I get it. … I feel like there was never any closure for them on that side and it’s not the band members, it’s more of the label, I think, and if that’s the closure they need, then I guess so be it, but it’s still going to hurt a little bit…
