NewJeans’ Hanni personally addresses their disagreement with HYBE in a now-deleted broadcast

“We should be treated much better than we are now…”

This article is part of our coverage of HYBE vs. ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. You can read more and view the full timeline here.

On September 11th, NewJeans took Internet users by surprise with a broadcast on a new YouTube channel (called nwjns), in which the members appeared much more dark and serious than in other times they had gone live.

Although most of it was in Korean, Years He raised some key points and started by saying that MOVES apparently “violated” their content despite discussions about what would happen next Min Hee Jin was removed from her role as I LOVE IT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.

Something that we all find very important, something that plays a very important role in our team’s color and image is our media content and creative production. Despite saying that they would hand over all creative production to our former CEO Min Hee Jin, through official statements that I think many of you may have already read and seen in our personal meetings, they have infringed on our content.

— Hanni

He explained the impact this was having on staff.

It was content that not only we worked hard on, but also our staff who spent countless hours producing and publishing it, just for our fans. If they had even a modicum of understanding of the type of team we are and the content we create, they would have thought more deeply before crossing the line they had set for themselves.

Hanni then explained that since Min Hee Jin stepped down, the “harmony” between the management and the creative side of ADOR no longer works the same way.

Because of this incident, we realize that there is not much we can do to prevent these problems. Personally, the way ADOR was run was that the business management and creative production were not separate, and they were the factors that played and worked in harmony together. That is how it worked and it was perfectly fine.

Now that he is no longer CEO, these factors that should have continued to work together harmoniously are now seen as two different areas of work.

She then explained her feelings towards HYBE, how they would not follow orders “blindly” and how they believed they should be treated much better. Hanni added that she did not feel HYBE was sincere in helping them continue working with Min Hee Jin.

“Just as we have our own individual thoughts and feelings, we have the ability to decide how we choose to react to any given situation, and we will not blindly follow every order from HYBE. We are more than aware that this hinders our work and that we should be treated much better than we are now.

It is very hard to truly believe that they are sincere in wanting to help us continue to work with our former CEO. Despite being in the midst of the current legal conflict, she is expected to plan and creatively produce our future endeavors in just two months, which I personally think makes no sense.”

— Hanni

Hanni concluded by saying that he didn’t want empty words from HYBE and that the group’s wish was for everything to go back to normal.

We don’t want to hear all those empty words about how they will help us continue working with Min Hee Jin. All we want is for this legal conflict to be resolved and for our work environment to return to normal.

— Hanni

In the meantime, the video and YouTube channel have been deleted.
