MBC’s special drama series A Shop for Assassins Season 2 continues to struggle in ratings, remaining in the 1% range for the second consecutive episode.
Based on author Kang Ji Young’s novel The Killer’s Shopping Mall, the action thriller follows Jeong Ji An (played by Kim Hye Jun), who becomes the target of deadly assassins after inheriting a mysterious shopping mall from her uncle Jeong Jin Man (played by Lee Dong Wook). Episode 2 saw the attacks on Ji An intensify, completely disrupting her ordinary life. The episode also suggested that Jin Man’s legacy involves much more than just an ordinary shopping mall, revealing his connection to a dangerous underworld.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 2 recorded a domestic rating of 1.3%, down 0.4 percentage points from the premiere. In comparison, So Ji Sub’s SBS drama Agent Kim reactivated it aired on the same day and got 21.6%, widening the ratings gap to more than 16 times.

Episode 3, airing on July 10 at 9.50pm KST, will alternate between Ji An’s current struggle for survival and childhood memories with her uncle. Through these flashbacks, viewers will learn the true meaning behind Jin Man’s seemingly strange words and actions. The memories also become crucial in helping Ji An survive the current crisis.

In the newly released preview, Ji An recalls Jin Man telling her: “The scarier it gets, the more you should open your eyes and face it.” As a child, Jin Man even trained her to shoot using firearms under mysterious circumstances. The next episode will reveal whether Ji An can finally understand his teachings and use them to stay alive.
Meanwhile, the danger surrounding Ji An and Jeong Min continues to increase. After the walls protecting Jin Man’s refuge collapse, the two find themselves exposed to attacks from all directions, forcing Ji An to make a crucial decision to protect both herself and Jeong Min. The series also promises to reveal that behind Jin Man’s outspoken personality lies a deep love and concern for his niece.
