Go Youn Jung is entering a new chapter in her acting career after officially joining the cast of the upcoming historical action film “Nambeol.”
Casting was confirmed on July 7, with the actress set to star alongside veteran actor Lee Byung Hun in what will be her first major action role set during the Joseon Dynasty.
Directed by Lee Mo Gae, “Nambeol” follows nine warriors from different social classes who come together for a dangerous mission on the island of Tsushima, AllKPop reported. Their goal is to rescue prisoners kidnapped by Japanese pirates during the early Joseon era.
Go Youn Jung will play Ae Ryeong, a determined woman whose life is turned upside down after Japanese pirates attack her family. After losing her loved ones and seeing her younger brother taken to the island of Tsushima, she chooses to enter the battlefield herself.
His character is described as independent, strong-willed and reluctant to give up despite the difficulties of the time.
