Veteran actor So Ji Sub recently showed off his charismatic charm in a digital cover for fashion magazine Arena Homme+, where he also reflected on his latest acting project.
During the photoshoot, which took place before the Friday-Saturday premiere of the SBS drama Agent Kim reactivatedThen Ji Sub impressed the staff with his professionalism and commanding presence.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Agent Kim reactivated follows the story of a father who relentlessly fights to save his only daughter. The drama got off to a strong start in the ratings, debuting with 9.5% viewership nationwide according to Nielsen Korea before rising to 15.7% for its second episode. So Ji Sub, who plays the main character Kim Bu Jang, had already generated interest through the drama’s action-packed teasers.
Talking about returning to action, So Ji Sub admitted that he has been filming his previous Netflix series Mercy for anyone it had put a strain on his body. “During filming Mercy for anyonemy body was exhausted. But once the production was over and I recovered, I found myself wanting to do action again.”
However, he stressed that the action sequences were not the main reason he accepted Agent Kim reactivated. “Then I got the offer to Agent Kim reactivated. The action was important, of course, but I liked the story even more. I was especially curious to see myself playing a father with a high school-age son.” His comments reveal that the character’s emotional depth was just as appealing as the challenging action scenes.
When asked who his greatest source of strength has been throughout his career, So Ji Sub responded without hesitation. “Without a doubt, they are my fans.” He went on to express heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported him for more than three decades. “Actors cannot continue this work if no one is watching them. I have been able to continue acting because there have been people who have watched over me and supported me for more than 30 years.”
