ATEEZ’s “Bad” sparks heated debate over Yeosang’s lines and the concept of Latin inspiration

ATEEZ’s new comeback is getting strong reactions online as fans continue to discuss the group’s title track “Bad” from their latest album, GOLDEN HOUR: Part.5.

Released on June 26, the song mixes reggaeton, Latin hip-hop and trap-inspired sounds. The music video quickly gained attention, reaching 6.5 million views soon after release.

While many fans praised the group’s bold concept and performance style, others raised concerns over member Yeosang’s limited lines and screen time.

Several fans pointed out that Yeosang only appeared on screen for about eight seconds in the music video. Some have also claimed that his actual singing time may have been even shorter. Complaints about line distribution are nothing new for the group, but this return has brought the discussion back into the spotlight.

According to Koreaboo, one fan wrote, “YEOSANG really deserves better because having a line in the title track again is just ridiculous.” Another fan said he was frustrated to see the issue continue “into his eighth year of career.”

The song’s lyrics have also sparked debate among some Latin American fans. “Bad” includes Spanish phrases and lyrics focusing on a confident woman and a party atmosphere.

ATEEZ’s “Bad” divides fans online

While some listeners appreciated the sound, others felt disappointed by what they described as a superficial use of Latin culture.

One fan commented that the lyrics seemed like “a bunch of random Spanish words” inserted into the song for a “Latin aesthetic.” Others have questioned why ATEEZ continues to use Latin-inspired concepts while rarely touring Latin America outside of Mexico.

At the same time, many listeners defended the comeback and praised the group’s creativity. Some called “Bad” one of the most unique K-pop releases of the year, while others said the song became more enjoyable after repeated listens.

Adding an extra layer of excitement to the return was actress Chase Infiniti’s appearance in the “Bad” music video, Complex reported. The 26-year-old actress has been an open supporter of ATEEZ for years, and longtime fans quickly recognized how meaningful the collaboration was to her.

Infiniti had previously shared his love for the group during the promotions of “One Battle After Another” in 2025. In an interview with MTV, he recommended songs like “Guerrilla”, “Bouncy” and “Hala Hala” to new listeners while talking about ATEEZ’s music.

ATEEZ, consisting of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho, remains one of the biggest global K-pop groups.
