Cristiano Ronaldo laughs at journalists’ requests for a salary increase and company car

Cristiano Ronaldo attracted attention with a funny response after journalists asked him for a pay rise and a company car following Portugal’s 5-0 win over Uzbekistan.

During a post-match interview with LiveMode Portugal, a media company in which Ronaldo is a shareholder, a journalist jokingly referred to the soccer star as their boss. “You are the best boss in the world. When can we negotiate a salary increase?” asked the reporter.

Another reporter added that he didn’t need a raise but instead wanted a company car, joking that any vehicle from Ronaldo’s collection would be acceptable. Ronaldo laughed at the unexpected requests and replied: “It’s funny. I like it. Today is a good day to make jokes like that.”

The cheerful exchange reflects his mood after his impressive performance against Uzbekistan. Ronaldo scored a brace and Portugal secured a convincing victory in their second Group K match. The goals reportedly made him the first player to score in six different World Cups. At 41, he also became the oldest player to score at least twice in a single World Cup match.
