On the 9th, Team Bunnies, NewJeans’ streaming support team, posted a lengthy message on X (formerly Twitter), revealing this information.
According to Team Bunnies, “On the 2nd, we filed a complaint against HYBE Corporation, Source Music, and two Dispatch reporters at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. In addition, we filed a petition with the Press Arbitration Commission seeking corrective action for defamation and leaking of personal information by the reporters.”
They added: “Several journalists from various media outlets have reported that the information was obtained illegally. They have informed us that HYBE has directly shown reporters and media desks information obtained beyond what could be acquired in the course of their duties, attempting to manipulate the media.”
They concluded, “We will soon present additional evidence and testimonies collected as supplementary materials to the existing complaint. Once again, we want to emphasize that we are preparing much more of this lawsuit.”
Here is the full statement from Team Bunnies of the NewJeans Music Streaming Team.
“Hi, this is Team Bunnies from the NewJeans Music Streaming Team.
On the 2nd, following our complaint filed against HYBE Corporation, Source Music, and two Dispatch News Group reporters at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, we also filed a petition with the Press Arbitration Commission. This petition requests corrective measures against Dispatch News Group for serious violations, including illegal acquisition of information, defamation based on such information, and dissemination of personal data.
Numerous journalists have reported to us that the information was obtained illegally. Additionally, it has been revealed that HYBE has shown journalists and newsrooms information that was beyond the scope of what could be legally acquired in an attempt to manipulate media coverage. We plan to present new evidence and testimonies collected to supplement our initial complaint.
Again, we would like to emphasize that we have many other actions planned in addition to the current complaint. In addition, HYBE should stop passing the buck by using phrases such as “ADOR independent judgment” and “multi-label.” Of the four new internal directors appointed at ADOR, three are high-level executives at HYBE (C-level), and Lee Jae-sang, who resigned from ADOR’s board of directors in July, is currently the CEO of HYBE. No matter what happens, HYBE cannot avoid responsibility.
Please stop making puns.
Thank you.”
