On May 30, Showbox shared a series of photos and videos via its official social media account, writing: “Squad Colony transformed the theater into a nursery. The second week of stage farewells ended successfully, surrounded by love.”
Colony marks Jun Ji Hyun’s return to the big screen for the first time since then Murder in 2015. After more than a decade away from cinemas, the actress finally reunited with audiences in person and quickly won them over with her natural charm, wit and warm personality.
In recent years, movie stage greetings in Korea have evolved far beyond simple promotional appearances. While actors once expressed gratitude to audiences primarily from the stage, today’s events often include active interactions with fans, such as recreating memes, performing requested poses, and participating in the fan-service culture commonly associated with K-pop idols.
Jun Ji Hyun seemed to fit the trend perfectly. In one of the videos posted, he jokingly read a fan’s sign that read: “You seem like an incredibly beautiful woman,” delivering the joke with perfect comedic timing. He then encouraged fans by saying: “Take photo”, creating a lively atmosphere.
He also warmly accepted the gifts prepared by fans, saying: “Thanks, I’ll have fun. Take lots of photos,” responding joyfully to various requests. Whether answering questions with hand gestures, striking a sexy and playful dance pose, or reciting fan-requested memes, she kept the audience laughing throughout the event.
One of the biggest highlights came when he confidently recreated the viral meme line, “Are you okay? You usually vomit when you see ugly people. Look at me, you’re okay now, right?” His flawless performance evoked an explosive response from fans both online and offline.
His fan service continued even after the on-stage greeting ended. Outside the theater, he walked along the lines of waiting fans, completing half-heart poses with them one by one as he made eye contact and personally greeted audience members, leaving many deeply touched.
A touching story also emerged from the event. When a fan reportedly fell on the stairs of a theater, Jun Ji Hyun was the first person to rush to help him. He helped the fan to his feet, held his arm for support and asked: “Are you OK?” to check their status. He also collected the fan’s belongings and returned them personally.

Afterwards, he continued to check whether the fan was hurt and even took a selfie with the shaken participant, demonstrating his kindness and consideration until the end.
Netizens were quick to praise the actress, leaving comments like: “A beauty remains beautiful forever”, “He’s elegant even when he’s being playful,” “Now I understand why it’s Jun Ji Hyun,” “Cheon Song Yi exists in real life,” “Yenicall is back” “A star is born”, AND “How did he hold onto his idol-level fan service instinct for so long?”
Many fans specifically compared her to two of her most beloved characters: Cheon Song Yi from the SBS drama My love from the star and Yenicall from the blockbuster film The thieves. His adorable, quirky charm reminded audiences exactly why those characters became so iconic.
In the meantime, Colony is director Yeon Sang Ho’s new zombie thriller set in the heart of Seoul. The film stars Jun Ji Hyun along with Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been and Kim Shin Rok.
