On May 29, the PD Note production team released a preview video through its official channel titled “PD Note Episode 1509 Preview: MC Mong and the Chairman’s K-Pop Business Secrets”.
The preview featured interviews with entertainment industry insiders discussing the ONE HUNDRED Label, which has recently been embroiled in controversy over alleged unpaid artist deals.
A representative from a concert distribution company said, “Artists are suffering from unpaid compensation, so where has all that money gone?” Meanwhile, the head of an entertainment security company said, “There are rumors circulating in the industry that President Cha Ga Won gave MC Mong tens of billions of won.”
Another interview attracted attention when a real estate appraiser said that “it seems like they are making money by leveraging Lee Seung Gi and Baekhyun’s names.”
In particular, viewers were surprised to see Cha Ga Won, president of ONE HUNDRED Label, personally sit down for an interview with the PD Note production team. During the preview, he made the cryptic remark, “If I open my mouth, the whole entertainment industry could be turned upside down,” increasing anticipation for the next broadcast.
MC Mong previously addressed the growing controversy through three separate live streams on his personal social media accounts, where he strongly denied all allegations against him. He revealed that PD Note had requested his response regarding allegations regarding the company’s operating funds and alleged illegal gambling activities.
“I don’t even understand what it means to say I used company funds for illegal gambling,” MC Mong said. “Everything can be verified through bank account records.”
He also stated that his role within the company was limited to productive and creative work and that he had no involvement in accounting or financial management. MC Mong also questioned the credibility of people believed to have provided information to PD Note, casting doubt on the reliability of the allegations.
During one of his live streams, MC Mong strongly denied the gambling allegations and attracted attention by directly mentioning the names of people connected to the controversy. He reportedly became aware of the matters being investigated by PD Note and chose to publicly address the allegations before the program aired.
With industry insiders and the public watching the situation closely, PD Note’s investigation into MC Mong and President Cha Ga Won will air on June 2.
